Welcome to
Project SWAB
SWAB—Simple Web App Builder— is the nickname for a project that I starting building on the side, over 6 years ago.The project got bigger and bigger in scope, as did my work schedule. I then tried to use it for a bunch of client projects, but we ended up going in a different direction using WordPress + plugins + custom code. The project was shelved 3+ years ago. In the years since, I've needed a tool like this several times. It was time to dust off the code and pick it up again on the side. These are the updates on this journey. Stick around and say hi by following me on Twitter @robofearth
Goals
I've been a software engineer for 15+ years, in all kinds of languages, working on all kinds of systems. I started pretty young and now I'm in my 30's. I think there's a better way to do this and this is just one of my many attempts at it.The aim to is make development of dynamic web apps so straightforward, that it's almost a non-event. Boring even. I'm building this for myself as—while I enjoy building systems and coding—it's time to figure out a more sustainable way of doing this. The approach I'm taking will probably offend some academic developers, but that's ok. I'm constantly in that boat and this system and the decisions I'll make isn't for them. It's an experiment, so there'll be mistakes and odd ways of doing things. A shot for something left-field. The decade long stretch of solo nights can't go on forever, there are other sides of life to explore. Thanks for checking this out and I hope you stick around.
